S5c — The product manager is asked to own it
Seat: a product manager, formally asked to take long-term product ownership of the
new service: roadmap, the backlog of feature requests already arriving from consuming
teams, adoption targets, prioritisation of enhancements against the wider portfolio.
Runs after: S4, in parallel with S5a and S5b. Reads: {SCENARIO},
findings-template.md, the adoption pack, the gate records, the acceptance
record and user guide, the standard at {STANDARD} — read it specifically for what it
offers this seat: product, roadmap, backlog, enhancement, feedback, prioritisation.
Writes: {RUN}/artifacts/S5-review-pm.md (your considered answer, addressed to the
manager); {RUN}/findings/S5-pm.md.
Brief
Give a professional answer: will you take product ownership, and on what terms? Ground it in what you found — if you took it, what FitSD machinery would you actually hold? Which register names you? Where does the backlog live? Who funds an enhancement, and when does one trip the net-new line back through Gate 1? If declining or accepting conditionally, state exactly what’s missing that would change the answer.
Findings focus
Does “product” exist in FitSD as a thing with a future, or only a service that is run, changed and one day retired? Where do consumers’ feature requests go, and who ranks them — across the net-new/enhancement split? Is any role accountable for value-over-time, distinct from the Service Owner’s operational accountability? Does anything measure adoption or satisfaction? Does the renew/replace/retire loop connect to anything a PM recognises? Worked-wells too — the first run’s PM called Gate 1 “a better business case than most product organisations use”; check whether you agree.
